Country of Origin: Germany - Bred for several hundred years, stemming from the German Pinscher possibly by crossing it with the Italian Greyhound and the Smooth Dachshund. Sometimes referred to as the Reh Pinscher in Germany due to its deer-like appearance. Originally used as a ratter. Recognized by AKC in 1929 and first shown as a Terrier, now shown in the Toy Group.

Character: Miniature pinschers are alert, bold, spirited and lively.

Temperment: This breed gets along fine with children, provided it is not pestered by them. Some have been known to be aggressive with other dogs and strangers, however this behavior is not common if proper socialization has taken place.

Coat: Is smooth, short and lustrous. Colors can be chocolate with rust-red, stag red, or black with red markings.

Care The coat is easy to groom. It should be brushed and combed periodically.

Colour: Black/tan, chocolate/tan, red

Comments: Can be suspicious and protective, excellent watchdog. Overall, they need little care to keep them in good condition. Very affectionate, loyal, attentive. Good travelers, apartment dwellers. Active, sturdy little dog. Devoted to owners and children. .
