The Vizsla is part of the Sporting group. The Vizsla is a dog with Above Average problem solving abilities. The trainability of the Vizsla is Excellent. It was breed to be good for Family Pet, Hunting, Watch Dog The Vizsla lifestyle is Adaptable to indoor/outdoor living

The Vizsla is susceptible to skin problems, hip dysplasia and epilepsy. It is important that when contacting a Vizsla breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Please don't purchase your Vizsla from a petstore which commonly are known to support Vizsla puppy mills. Doing so only promotes inproper breeding ethics and promotes current Vizsla health issues. The AKC, UKC, FCI, CKC, SKC, WWKC, FIC registries recognize the Vizsla breed standard.

Country of Origin: Hungary - Believed to go back in pure line to the days of the Magyar hordes that overran Hungary from the East (Turkey). Legends persist about the the Lost Valley of Tibet. Regarded as a holy dog by the lamas - symbol of good luck. Never sold, only given as gifts. Recognized in England since 1937 and imported into the US in 1956. Accepted into AKC in 1973.

Character: This breed is loyal, affectionate, intelligent, and enjoys field sports.

Temperment: This dog gets along well with children, other dogs, and any household pets. It will bark at strangers.

Coat: The short-haired Vizsla is either dark gold or a dark wheat color. The wire-haired Vizsla is usually a shade of sandy-yellow.

Care Very little grooming on the short-haired coat is required. When it is shedding, use a rubber brush to remove dead hairs. The wire-haired coat needs to be plucked periodically.

Colour: Various shades of gold to sandy yellow

Comments: Makes a merry household pet, small enough for apartments, and rowdy enough for children. Learn quickly but are easily distracted and resist training. Protective, sensitive to emotional state of their people. Has unusual feet that allow it to travel .
